3 RETREATS OVER 3 WEEKS FOR WRITERS OF GENRE FICTION

21 October to 12 November 2023

The Kermandie, Port Huon, Tasmania

The Huon River, Port Huon

This October and November we’re offering an unmissable professional development program for writers, including waterfront writers’ retreats in the stunning surrounds of the Kermandie hotel in Port Huon.

There are opportunities suitable for emerging and established writers, those working in all genres, and writers on track for traditional publication.

Our 2023 waterfront writers’ retreat series is supported by Pili Pala Literary.

  • Remember to register your interest in our EOI form.

  • Download it in either PDF or Word and email to Felicity.Lemon.TARWF@gmail.com

  • If an event is fully reserved, you can join a waitlist using this form.

  • If computer gremlins mean the form won’t work for you, please send a regular email to Felicity instead with the information requested in the form.

Please note that we have received an unexpected number of EOIs this year and are processing them as fast as our little part-time volunteer team can go. Please be patient as we prepare for three weeks of literary escapades in the gorgeous Huon Valley.

In 2023, our extremely popular Waterfront Writers’ Retreats in Port Huon return. The wonderful staff at Kermandie will make your stay memorable.

Spend a minimum of six quiet writing hours each day progressing your manuscript, or opt for afternoon masterclasses, then discuss your progress and any issues in a daily group tutor session ahead of dinner.

You will be paired with either publisher Lindy Cameron or editor Narrelle M. Harris as your tutor. Meals are included so retreaters can focus on their writing without distraction.

  • WEEK 1 - 6 Day, 6 Night Crime and Mystery Writers’ Retreat, Saturday 21 to Friday 27 Oct 2023 (20 placements)

  • WEEK 2 - 4 Day, 4 Night Genre Writers’ Retreat, Monday 30 October to Friday 3 November 2023 (20 placements)

  • WEEK 3 - 5 Day, 5 Night Editing Writers’ Retreat, with optional pitching, Tuesday 7 to Sunday 12 November 2023. Please note this retreat is part of our 2023 Meet the Australian Publishing Industry program.

Please read details of the retreat rooms and prices before submitting an EOI (links below).

It is important to note that we go to great lengths to accommodate people with various allergy and physical disability needs. All participants are asked to understand and agree to help us maintain a physically safe space (in terms of food, seating etc.) for guests and staff.
