TAF2022 | WRITERS’ RETREATS

Sunday 2 to Saturday 15 October 2022

Kermandie Hotel, Port Huon

View of the Port Huon marina from the historic Kermandie hotel

Drive, fly or sail to the Kermandie Hotel, located opposite the Port Huon marina, for dedicated time to work on your current manuscript or writing project.

Akin to a pop-up Varuna, you’ll join a supportive writing community where noise is kept to a minimum, meals are provided, and tutors check in with you daily. You’ll have nothing to do but write for a week or two.

Each participant receives:

-          their own room with ensuite and a writers’ desk,

-          daily continental breakfast and lunch served in the Writers’ Lounge, and dinner in the restaurant, and

-          a structured writing day and daily tutoring from leading Australian writers such as novelist Nigel Featherstone (literary stream) and author and publisher Lindy Cameron (crime and general genre stream).

Airport Transfers

Kermandie Hotel can offer one airport transfer run (Kermandie to Hobart to Kermandie; or just one way) on Sunday 2, Saturday 8, Sunday 9 and Saturday 15 October, based on a minimum of 8 passengers each way. A one-way transfer will be $33 per person.

Guests arriving at the airport between approximately midday and 3.30 pm will be met on these days. Those who arrive before 3.30 pm may be transferred to central Hobart to enjoy sightseeing until a later pick up, at no extra charge. Sunday transfers arrive at Kermandie at approximately 6 pm.

Guests leaving the Kermandie will be transferred in the morning to the airport, and may be asked to be ready to leave as early as 7 am. The time will depend on the earliest flights of guests leaving that day; plenty of notice will be given to all guests of departure time. To allow sufficient time for a transfer, the possibility of morning traffic, check-in and security, it is best to book flights leaving no earlier than 11.30 am, though early afternoon would be preferable.

Additional days may be added if sufficient guests request them.

We can’t guarantee a transfer on other days or at other times, but will work with you to find options that suit you. For example, an additional transfer on Monday 17 October from Kermandie to the airport is looking likely.
